The inscription is to the artist Jackie Clipsham, who was a disability rights activist.

Laid-in is a thank you note from Mrs. McKissick for attendee's of her husbands funeral, which includes a poem written for him by his sister, Frances McKissick Hines.

McKissick was a noted civil rights activist and lawyer, being the first African American to attend UNC's law program. At the time of his death in 1991 he was a North Carolina State district court judge. 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 223 pages; Signed by Author.
